David P. Wessel, AIC, FAPT
Principal Conservator
As a principal of the firm, David directs conservation
projects and oversees our in-house conservation laboratory. He is
a professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation,
and a Fellow of the Association for Preservation Technology. For
the past 15 years, he has served as a project manager and conservator
in the diagnosis of material conditions and conservation treatment
development. His work has included conservation of a wide range
of materials, including wood, decoratively painted plaster work,
natural building stones, brickwork, terra cotta, and concrete. David
also has a background in furniture making and wood artifacts conservation.
He was the co-chair of the American Society for Testing of Materials
(ASTM) task group that developed guidelines for masonry consolidants,
and was also active in developing guidelines for historic structure
reports. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Association
for Preservation Technology (APT) and is the past chair of the Architectural
Specialty Group of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
