East Yosemite Valley Site Study
National Park Service
Yosemite National Park, California
Yosemite Valley stretches approximately ten miles
in a roughly east-west direction, with most of the development
in
the
eastern third of the narrow valley. In 2002, after years of planning
efforts, the comprehensive management document, the Final
Yosemite
Valley Plan (YVP), was released.
Through our on-call contract with the National Park Service (NPS)
for the park, ARG
developed the site study for the eastern portion
of the valley, an area that includes both the Curry Village
National Historic District and the valley’s popular campgrounds.
The study's purpose is to develop detailed
location, program, and design criteria for over 38 projects
defined
in the YVP. ARG led a team of consultants who, in collaboration
with NPS and the park concessionaire, built upon the YVP to develop
a comprehensive plan.
