Shenandoah Plaza Historic District Design Guidelines
NASA/Ames Research Center
Moffett Field, California
ARG
prepared Design Guidelines to assist NASA/Ames professional
staff, tenants, and their consultants in rehabilitating the five
National Register buildings
surrounding Shenandoah Plaza, which make up the historic core of
this former Naval Air Station. The guidelines were intended to
be a design aid in determining acceptable alterations,
additions,
and repairs for preserving the character of the existing concrete-frame,
Colonial Revival buildings built in 1933, and were based upon The
Secretary of the Interior’s
Standards for Rehabilitation. The Design Guidelines were particularly
concerned
with identifying intact historic fabric at each building and establishing
parameters for rehabilitation work for building reuse.
