Presidio of San Francisco Design Guidelines
National Park Service
San Francisco, California
ARG
developed the Illustrated Guidelines for the Rehabilitation
of Buildings at the Presidio of San Francisco to assist NPS
and its potential tenants with common rehabilitation
problems. The Guidelines also provide sensible solutions to
help lessees and their design consultants preserve the character
of the buildings.
These Guidelines—with text, examples, photographs, and sketches
specific to the Presidio—are based on an illustrated version of
The Secretary of the Interior's Standards. NPS uses the
guidelines as criteria for evaluating project design and impact
on historic
fabric. The Guidelines won a Community Planning and Design Honor
Award from the California Council of the AIA and a CPF Historic
Preservation Design Award.
