Historic Resources Survey
City of Palm Springs
Palm Springs, California

Incorporated in 1938, Palm Springs is home to a wide variety of building types, including residential, civic, commercial, and the ubiquitous motel. ARG conducted a citywide reconnaissance-type field survey assessing 200 historic resources, including those resources strongly associated with the Modern Movement that may not yet be 50 years old. ARG is completing standardized State of California survey forms for 200 properties, providing descriptive information and more detailed historical and architectural significance documentation for 50 of the 200 properties. This project has been carried out in accordance with The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Preservation Planning, Identification, Evaluation, and Registration, and under the guidelines established in National Register Bulletin 24: Guidelines for Local Surveys: A Basis for Preparation Planning. ARG will make recommendations for future historic resource survey work within the City of Palm Springs.
