Goldman School of Public Policy
University of California
Berkeley, California
The original Ernest Coxhead-designed building
served as the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house and is now home to
the Graduate School of Public Policy. From 1996–98, ARG provided
design and construction administration services for its seismic
strengthening and renovation. Through our work with the Graduate
School and the University, we developed the design for a new adjacent
building to accommodate program needs. The three-story
building houses 2 classrooms and 12 faculty offices. A key component
of the project was to design a structure that complements the existing
gable-roofed historic building and respects the residential look
and feel of the neighborhood.
