Presidio Fire Station
Presidio Trust & National Park Service
San Francisco, California
Built in 1917 after a fire killed the wife and
three daughters of Post General John J. Pershing, the Presidio
Fire Station was the first military fire station established in
the United States. ARG rehabilitated the original fire station,
including state-of-the-art technology and communications systems,
and designed an addition that houses a larger truck bay, a dining
and kitchen area, and a lounge. ARG's design incorporates the principles
of sustainable design, using sustainable and renewable construction
materials and finishes. The project received a 2000 CPF Design
Award for New Construction in a Historic Context.
