ARG won an invited design competition for the design of a new Visitor Center and Education Building at Filoli. The design consists of a Georgian pavilion sited to be consistent with the axial planning of the existing complex. The new facility, which sits adjacent to the Filoli Estate, orients guests and tours, and provides space for meetings, lectures, and classes. Program areas include a 225-seat assembly room, main lobby, orientation room, a cafe, offices, and a catering kitchen. The freestanding structure sits at the edge of the property's oak forest, and adds a discernible, yet richly detailed addition to the various on-site buildings and the 16 acres of historic gardens.
