Curry Village Employee Housing
National Park Service
Yosemite National Park, California
ARG is designing employee housing
to be located on a wooded, undeveloped site adjacent to
historic Curry
Village.
The housing development will provide 217 beds for employee housing,
common use spaces, parking, and a wellness center that will house
fitness and activity areas, a housing office, and computer room.
Led by ARG, the design team created three preliminary
approaches, with the National Park Service selecting a scheme that
proposes 22 two-story housing
structures and 4 two-story common buildings, with a separate two-story
building to house the wellness center, and two storage buildings.
The
new structures are compatibly designed with the distinctive building
siting, scale, and materials of the existing buildings within the
adjacent Curry Village Historic District.
